"Mom, it's just not fair, my wishes never come true."
"What do you mean? Lot's of things you wished for happened."
"Yeah, but I keep wishing on the stars, and have a lot that don't. Can I tell you, since they didn't even come true? So it's okay to tell, right?"
"Okay, sure."
"Okay. First I wished for every kind of princess dress in the world. Then, I wished for a Unicorn. I really, really, want one."
"Wow, that's a really good wish."
"AND I wished that the fairies in the Rainbow Magic Fairy books were really real."
"That's a good wish, too."
"I know, but they never come true!"
A suggestion was made that we should now encourage her to become a scientist so she can work with genetics and create a unicorn.

So, with all the 48 hour film stuff going on, of course we have not watched the last ep of Dr Who yet. So, I say to Coral how maybe we can watch it tomorrow, and see how the dr saves the day and why Amy is a little girl again. To which Coral replies, "Mom, that part's easy. He's a Time Lord. You know, TIME? That's how she's a kid." Oh, duh.
Posting mostly because I don't want my account deleted (I really should print out everything!). We had a nice flood in front of our house about an hour ago, looks like it's gone now, yay for that! Ummm, have a nice night, everyone!
I have been helping Coral search her room for her Dr Who (10) figure. We can't find it anywhere. I'm getting mildly upset (it has to be here somewhere!), and Coral says, "don't worry, Mom, we need to get the new one anyway!" So, someone has definitely adapted to Doctor 11 with ease!
Even though she is a big old kindergarten girl who can *READ!!!* Coral still has some fun language. She loves popovers for breakfast on the weekends, but has called them puffies until last week. Sad to see that disappear. Forehead is still eyebread, though. Now she also uses school vocabulary, which is so cool. Don't know what I'll do next year when she's in a bigger grade than me!!! :)
I love teaching about Dr Martin Luther King at my school. Because his dream was that kids of all colors and nationalities would learn and play together. All I have to do is have the kids look around our class, and we can see that his dream did come true. This year, my students are African-American, Caucasian, Bengali, Bosnian, Yemeni, Polish and Albanian. And THEY DON'T CARE. They all play together, they all learn together, they all sing together. I only hope they feel this way forever. Looking at my past students, now in high school, college, and the working world, well, some still do!
Happy Winter Solstice, everyone! Looking forward to those brighter, longer days! Welcome back, Sun!
Gillian Anderson to Play Rani on Doctor Who - Daily Telegraph reports that Gillian Anderson, known to many as Agent Scully from The X-Files, is heading to a brand new science-fiction franchise, as she prepares to appear in Doctor Who. Anderson will appear as The Rani, acting opposite Matt Smith's Doctor. When the Master re-appeared in the third season of the revived Doctor Who, showrunner Russel T. Davies joked that the hand which claimed the Master's ring in the last episode was that of Rani (Adam called that). Davies said he had no plans to use that storyline himself, but said it was included for future production teams who wanted to bring either the Master or Rani back.

Definitely a good one. Kid's room was full of win, bubbles, balloons, clay, CHOCOLATE clay.... Got Jim Hines' latest book(thanks for signing it, Jim! Sorry I missed you). Masq was fun, although small. Hunting aliens in consuite was fun, and seeing friends who never make it to Confusion was nice. But, lots of peeps who I expected to see didn't so much show up, so that wasn't so great. Coral talked me into going to the pool, something I never do (although we always pack the suits just in case). Pool was very warm, and nice! Al tried to meet us there, but was just a smidge too late, we were already drying off in the room. Main bummer was all of us having sore throats. Weird, we never all 3 get the same thing...heck, Al and I hardly ever get the same thing at the same time! Some tenacious bug. Anyway, back to the real world now.

Emptying the dishwasher, accidentally broke Coral's little bunny bowl :(. It's a rice bowl that we got at Sur La Table - it matched her little bunny mug we got somewhere in Colorado when she was not quite 2. Sadness. Hopped online, within a half hour I found a store that carries it in a set with 3 other CUTE rice bowls! It is ordered, hooray! What did clumsy mommies do before the internet????
